ETHICS, POWER & HEART

  • Saturday, October 16, 2010
  • With Kathy Ginn
  • 9:00am – 5:00pm | 7 CE Hours | Fee $99
  • The heart of ethics is human relationships ~ the capacity to enter into a simple caring presence with your client; using your power with awareness and skill. The class begins by exploring the multiple dynamics of the power differential within the therapeutic relationship. Offering a space of gentleness & support, each participant will have the opportunity to reflect on one's personal relationship with power. The class continues to explore the delicate interaction between client and therapist to include: dual role relationship, personal limits and boundary concerns, proper table talk, the entrapment of helping too much which often leads to burn-out, written practice policies, informed consent, skills of awareness, polarity of the heart, and developing a simple caring presence. Within an atmosphere of safety & support, participants are encouraged to talk about real life situations and concerns. Kathy brings her passion and warmth to the classroom environment. * Class is experiential in nature. To help support your learning, this course weaves together art work, music, story, community dialogue and quiet reflection.

THE SUN IN UNION WITH THE AWAKENING OF HUMAN CONSCIOUSNESS, A BODYWORKERS' CONNECTION WITH FLOWER ESSENCES (3 OF 3)

  • Monday, October 18, 2010
  • With Julie Zettel, NCTMB, WCMT 1285-046
  • 11:00am – 3:30pm | 4 CE Hours | Fee $70
  • In this class participants of the previous classes will have an opportunity to discuss their insights gained from taking flower essences. We'll look into the spirit-body-mind complex of healing and we'll discuss the outline of Eckhart Tolle's book "A New Earth" that was distributed at class two. "Awareness is the greatest agent of change. Freedom from the dysfunctional aspects of the mind allow a transformed state of human consciousness to emerge." Flower essences act as a bridge, awakening us to our essential true nature. Flower essence remedies are designed to help transform emotions, attitudes, or patterns of behavior that hinder our full development or potential. Massage Therapists who cultivate personal growth experience less burn out and greater joy in their work.

HOT STONE MASSAGE (2 DAY CLASS)

  • Saturday, October 23 & Sunday, October 24, 2010
  • With Lee Ann Baum, WCMT
  • 10:00am – 5:00pm | 12 CE Hours | Fee $250
  • This Hot Stone Massage class is designed to be very thorough, intricate, creative, and fun, teaching you all that you would need to know to perform a safe, flowing and marvelous hot stone massage. Lee Ann's 12 years of knowledge using stones will provide depth and dimension to the workshop. The class goes beyond the fundamentals, revealing many of the lesser-known secrets of how to make a session flow, with the least amount of interruption possible. You will come away with a clear understanding of how stones can benefit your client's body, mind, and soul. Students must bring the following supplies to class: electric cooker (such as Nesco, etc.), massage stones, meat thermometer, slotted spoon, fishnet or hand-held metal strainer, and a pint-sized bottle of jojoba oil (Pure Pro oil or similar, no creams or sesame oil). For more information, please see our website, or contact Lee Ann at freyathor@wi.rr.com. Ordering information: The stones must be basalt. I suggest the sets that have at least 50 stones (some sets have 60 or more stones). When you're shopping for your stones, you'll notice that some sets include marble or cold treatment stones. We will talk just briefly about cold stones, but as long as you're paying for shipping, you might want to get a couple of cold stones. It's up to you if you'd like to purchase the heater along with the stones. You can find reasonably priced heaters at Fleet Farm, Target, etc. Make sure it's an 18 QT capacity. You will want to preheat/season your heater before you come to class – please do this at home, simply follow the instructions that come with your heater. If you have any questions at all about ordering stones, please don't hesitate to contact Lee Ann at freyathor@wi.rr.com or at (262) 241-5056.
